Dr Mohammed Wajid Akhter Joins the Kiswat Al Kaaba Showcase at BIMA National Conference 2025
Birmingham, UK — 28th June 2025
The Kiswat al-Kaaba Exhibition made a powerful impact at the BIMA National Conference, where hundreds of healthcare professionals, community leaders, and faith representatives gathered for a weekend of inspiration, dialogue, and reflection.
Among the most memorable moments was the heartfelt walkthrough delivered to none other than Dr Mohammed Wajid Akhter, a prominent national figure known for his work in medicine, interfaith engagement, and charitable leadership. Representing numerous charity organisations and currently serving as Secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), Dr Wajid's visit to the Kiswah exhibit was a deeply emotional encounter
Guided by Hafiz Yusuf and Hafiz Umar, Dr Wajid was introduced to the Rawdah Lock and Key, an iconic artefact from the Chamber of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Madinah. As Hafiz Yusuf delivered a short narrative on its history and spiritual significance, the atmosphere turned reflective and emotional, with many describing the moment as “uplifting for the soul.”
Dr Wajid has been a supporter of the Kiswah Arts & Culture initiative since its early stages. Known for his strategic networking, quiet support, and belief in community empowerment, he has helped open doors—literally and metaphorically—for the project across national stages
“He’s someone who understands the long-term vision—how preserving Islamic heritage through artefacts like these can inspire future generations, not just Muslims, but all communities,” said one organiser.
His presence at the exhibition symbolised the kind of cross-sector collaboration the Kiswah Arts & Culture Gallery aims to achieve: blending history, faith, education, and national identity in a way that uplifts and connects communities across the UK.
