Mayor Shah Hussain Offers Vision and Support at Kiswat Al Kaaba Exhibition in Burnley

Danehouse Community Centre, Burnley – 31st May 2025

A day rich in history, heritage, and community unity was made even more special with the attendance of Mayor Shah Hussain at the Kiswat Al Kaaba Exhibition at Danehouse Community Centre on Saturday, 31st May 2025

His presence brought not just civic support but heartfelt guidance and mentorship for the future of the exhibition’s national mission: to educate, inspire, and preserve centuries of sacred Islamic history through the development of a Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery

A Mayor Who Listened and Engaged with Purpose

Throughout the day, Mayor Shah Hussain gave his time generously, walking through the exhibition alongside Hafiz Yusuf, who delivered a detailed and insightful explanation of the rare artefacts on display—including original pieces of the Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba and the Rawdah from Madinah. The Mayor listened attentively, deeply engaged in the walkthrough which lasted for a considerable length of time, showing a genuine appreciation for the significance and preservation of these priceless treasures.

Mayor Hussain’s words of encouragement and guidance throughout the event served as a boost of confidence for the team behind the Kiswa exhibition. He expressed his belief in the project’s long-term value—not just as a cultural showcase but as a living, educational platform for interfaith dialogue, youth empowerment, and community pride

His mentorship on the day offered direction and validation for the path ahead as the project gains momentum across the UK

> “To have a civic leader so invested in this vision means everything,” said Hafiz Yusuf. “He didn’t just visit—he immersed himself in the journey of the artefacts, the legacy, and the future of the gallery.”

A Powerful Day for Burnley, A Lasting Message for the Nation

The exhibition at Danehouse marked another major milestone in the national tour of the Kiswat Al Kaaba artefacts. Mayor Shah Hussain’s active involvement, alongside local leaders and faith representatives, demonstrated the power of cultural heritage to unite communities and spark meaningful conversations

As the vision to build a permanent Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery gathers pace, the support from civic leaders like Mayor Hussain reminds us that heritage preservation is not only about the past—it’s a gift for the future
