As-Suffa Education Centre in Hull became the latest host of the powerful and visually stunning Kiswat Al Kaaba Exhibition, an event showcasing authentic textile artefacts from the Holy Kaaba and the Rawdah of Madinah
The event drew in a wide spectrum of visitors, including community leaders, faith representatives, and notably Councillor Daren Hale, who praised the exhibition for its cultural significance and impact.Cllr Hale expressed a deep appreciation for the historical, artistic, and spiritual weight the Kiswa pieces carry, noting the exhibition’s powerful role in strengthening community cohesion and promoting cultural dialogue across diverse backgrounds
“This is not just fabric – it’s history, heritage, and devotion stitched into gold and silver threads,” he remarked. “The preservation of these sacred textiles provides an invaluable educational tool for future generations and bridges understanding between communities.”
The exhibition is part of a wider national effort by Kiswat Al Kaaba – Arts & Culture Gallery to take priceless Islamic heritage artefacts across the UK, increasing access, education, and awareness. The team behind the exhibition is working towards the long-term vision of establishing the UK’s first dedicated Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery, a permanent home for these sacred artefacts and a hub for interfaith understanding, heritage education, and cultural celebration.Local attendees, young learners, and educators alike were captivated by the artistry and legacy embedded in each piece. The event underlined the importance of safeguarding Islamic heritage while fostering shared cultural values and mutual respect
The Hull event is another milestone in a growing movement that blends sacred history, artistic preservation, and inclusive community empowerment — one thread at a time.
