MP Iqbal Mohammed Champions Vision for Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery at Dewsbury Exhibition
Dewsbury, 12th July 2025 — In a powerful show of support, MP Iqbal Mohammed attended the Kiswat Al Kaaba Exhibition at Dewsbury Town Hall, where he engaged deeply with the narrative, vision, and mission behind one of the most culturally significant Islamic exhibitions ever hosted in the region
Joined by scholars, councillors, and local residents, MP Mohammed spent quality time with Sheikh Ilyas of Kiswat Al Kaaba, discussing the future of this growing movement — particularly the establishment of a Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery: a proposed educational and cultural hub dedicated to preserving sacred Islamic artefacts, including the Kiswah (cloth of the Kaaba), and making them accessible to all
MP Mohammed praised the initiative not only for its spiritual and historical value but also for its potential to positively transform communities:
"Education, heritage, and culture are powerful tools for community empowerment. This exhibition is the beginning of something much greater — a space that encourages interfaith dialogue, cultural understanding, and pride in shared history."
The MP recognised how the gallery could serve as a platform for education across generations and faiths, fostering deeper understanding and mutual respect. His visible support during the exhibition reinforced the growing momentum behind the idea of a permanent centre that blends heritage preservation with inclusive, forward-looking community engagement
His thoughtful engagement with Sheikh Ilyas and the wider Kiswat Al Kaaba team reflects a broader commitment to backing initiatives that enrich Dewsbury’s identity and bring people together through culture and education.
As the call for the Kiswa Arts and Culture Gallery gains traction, support from figures like MP Iqbal Mohammed continues to be instrumental in driving this historic mission forward
