What is Merauke Oud?
 
Oud is produced from agarwood, a highly prized aromatic wood traditionally burned across the Middle East and Asia. Over time, the agarwood tree develops its characteristic dark aromatic resin within the wood. Resin-rich pieces are then carefully harvested, selected and prepared for burning.
Our Merauke Oud is supplied as pure, unscented agarwood woodchips — “unscented” meaning nothing has been added or artificially perfumed. The natural wood itself produces its distinctive fragrance when heated.

What Is Oud Used For?
 
Burning agarwood is a centuries-old tradition used to create a rich and welcoming atmosphere. It is commonly enjoyed before guests arrive, after cleaning the home, before special occasions, when preparing clothing, or simply as part of a personal fragrance ritual.
Unlike conventional incense or perfumed bukhoor, natural oud has its own raw woody character. It can initially smell stronger or more earthy than fragranced incense, with the fragrance developing and changing as the resin warms
 
How to Use
 
Place a small piece of Merauke Oud onto a suitable incense burner using either prepared charcoal or an appropriate electric oud burner.
For charcoal burning, allow the charcoal to become fully heated before placing a small piece of oud on top. You do not need to use a large amount — resin-rich agarwood can produce a powerful aroma from only a small chip.
Allow the wood to heat slowly and release its aromatic smoke. Replace the piece when the fragrance has faded
 
For a softer scent, use lower heat rather than allowing the wood to burn aggressively.
