The heat will gradually release the natural aromatic oils and resin contained within the wood, producing fragrant smoke.
You only need a small amount at a time. Resin-rich agarwood can produce a powerful fragrance from a relatively small chip.
For a softer and more refined aroma, allow the wood to heat gradually rather than burn aggressively.
