Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery Unites Communities at Huddersfield Town Hall Exhibition
Huddersfield, Monday 10th November 2025 – The historic Huddersfield Town Hall came alive with heritage, unity, and cultural dialogue as Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery hosted its acclaimed Kiswa Exhibition, an evening celebrating sacred Islamic art and history. The event, held from 6pm to 9pm, attracted a diverse audience and inspired powerful conversations around community, identity, and shared humanity.
Hosted by Molana Abubakr from Huddersfield Community First, the event was themed “Flipping the Script on Islamophobia,” featuring a distinguished panel of community leaders and academics:
Harpeet Uppal (MP for Huddersfield), Dr Shamim Miah (University of Huddersfield), Cllr Amanda Pinnock (Cabinet Member for Communities), Hamzah Naveed (MEND – Muslim Engagement & Development), Cllr Imran Safdar, Dr Gerard (Interfaith Lecturer, University of Manchester & Durham), Dr Abdul Ahmed (Council for Mosques), and Khalid Sadiq (Acting Inspector, West Yorkshire Police).
The exhibition showcased rare and sacred artefacts from the Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba and the Rawdah al-Sharifah of Madinah, drawing admiration from visitors who described the event as “inspirational,” “educational,” “mind-blowing,” and “a powerful step towards community empowerment.”
The evening offered meaningful networking opportunities and fostered cultural dialogue between civic leaders, interfaith organisations, and the wider public — demonstrating how art, culture, and heritage can unite communities and promote understanding.
Operational management on the day was led by Hafiz Umar, with Hafiz Yusuf providing curatorial expertise for the artefacts, ensuring visitors experienced the exhibition with both depth and authenticity.
The event generated numerous written and verbal testimonials, with more to follow — all praising the gallery’s role in bridging communities and raising awareness of Islamic heritage. The initiative aligns with Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery’s 2025 milestone objective: to expand public access to sacred art and open new cultural venues across the UK.
“This was more than an exhibition – it was a night of unity, learning, and shared values,” said a spokesperson from Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery. “Our mission is to use heritage as a bridge — bringing people closer to understanding and celebrating our collective history.”
With new venue invitations and partnerships emerging, Kiswa Arts & Culture Gallery continues to build a nationwide movement that promotes art, culture, history, and heritage while championing dialogue and social cohesion
